Thinking about 16-45 and 55-300

I've come into some money and I'm thinking of upgrading my two current lenses (18-55, and 50-200). I'm thinking of the 16-45 and 55-300.

From what I've read, both lenses are very good. Are they noticeably sharper than the two I currently have? How about weight and size?

I'm just wondering because I'm torn about replacing these lenses or getting a super wide instead. My budget is $1000, and I'm shooting with a K100D Super.

That is a good combo.. and actually I had the same goal before... only thing that changed was the standard zoom: there MANY options on the market and it is tough to choose.

Take a look at this thread:

And to make things "worse', Pentax is releasing a 17-70 soon... so even more options!

See.. sometimes too many choices could be a problem...

I would opt for the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 and the Pentax 55-300.
