DC motor? Has Pentax given up on HSM ring style motors? Will this be as fast/faster focusing than DA* 560-135mml or 60-250mm
The DA560 uses DC. The DC motor is quick in my 18-135, faster than my SDM lenses.

Since they have included focus range limiters in these zooms even old SDM would be quick,

I would think this 70-200 lens will be considered their flagship DFA * lens, so if it is DC then expect everything that follows to be the same.

I wonder if Ricoh will covertly allow a FF image circle (or a ~1.2x crop) on DA lenses which can cover it, and restrict it to a 1.5x crop on others? They could even adjust for vignetting in the JPEG output.

Following the link above provides a few tidbits of information, one of which is:

* Compatible with DA-series interchangeable lenses, using an image-cropping function

To me this is one of the most CRITICAL things that needs to be done, and Ricoh is smart in doing this. People like me who have invested thousands in DA* lenses wont be left out in the complete cold when they purchase a new FF!

Don't forget the Pentax 1.4X TC. I am pretty confident that it will make most DA lenses cover the full 35mm image circle.

When I see this, I have to wonder. Is it a good thing, yes, certainly, but it is perhaps 10 years too late, and the long zoom about 160mm too short.

Unless I have an equipment failure, I am not sure I would likely buy either of these offerings, fine as they may be. I see i gain very little over my APO 70-200/2.8EX (non DG version) and APO2X teleconverter.

Is 50mm more reach, really worth it.

The gains I would really benefit from technically is that I would have SR. optimized, where as with the 70-200/2.8 and a TC I am shooting at 1/2 the true focal length, and again with the TC attach d, I could shoot P-TTL flash without exposure compensation.

Two very minor gains.

If the longer zoom went out to 600 mm like the competition, maybe, just maybe I would go for it
