Will Pentax/Ricoh be making lenses for FF similar to the DA* 16-50mm ?

I have K-5 and K-3 so I am in no rush to get the FF when it comes out. I am interested in the new collapsible zoom for an inexpensive (I Hope) WR DC zoom lens and a bigger item on my wish list, the DFA 150 - 450 zoom. Otherwise I have everything I want.

I think so, but not from scratch. They might start out from previously discontinued FA zooms, updating glasses to current coating, WR, etc.

Of course I will, I'm not running out to buy FF tomorrow, even if I could, I still have a few FF lenses from my Pentax film days that I even now occcasionally use on my Kr and even my Q. Also I'm sure Pentax will have a system in place where APSC lenses can be used on FF with automatic electronic cropping on the larger sensor. Given that Pentax has focussed (sorry about the pun) on APSC for so long their FF lens cupboard is a bit bare so I really can't see them doing anything else at least at first. And not to forget some APSC lenses (like some wide angles) work perfectly well on FF at some settings.

I have everything I think I need now (50/50 crop /FF) and I believe going forward all new Pentax lenses will be designated DFA.

So if there is anything new they come out with that I decided to get it will be DFA.

I don't think they would continue to release DA only lenses, would they?

What I really want is 24-70 ish anyway as I rarely go wider than that. A 24-105 f/4 would be about perfect. 28mm is a bit too long on APS-C and most of the F glass I have starts at 35mm which is much too long for a general purpose lens.

Not sure about never buying APS-C glass, I guess it depends on what the FF camera brings to the table. If I go that route then I have all the crop glass I would ever need. If not then maybe the 16-85. But I'm not buying any crop glass until a FF decision is made.

FF and APS-C are not mutually exclusive, especially if one has various interests.
You use the FF for night, low light, portrait, landscape.
You keep the APS-C for street, travel, general purpose, birding.

I guess FA* 28-70 used to be something like 16-50 nowadays.

I've always wanted lenses I could use on my MZ-S as well as whatever digital body I had, so all my lenses are already FF. The only exception I've made is the Sigma 150-500mm, which actually is FF but lacks an aperture ring.

I'll still buy crop glass as I won't upgrade to FF for a few years yet. Plus, I need more prime lenses for my k-x and (soon to be purchased) k5-iis. 😁

Believe it or not, all of us are not clamoring for full frame. It will be interesting to see what percentages of Pentax sales will be full frame, and I hope it's willdly successful, even though I am very content with my current cameras. I'm not saying never because future features may dictate the cameras and lenses in my future. Anyway, if a DA lens is good in APS-C, it wiil be as good on the FF in APS-C mode. I wonder if ther "crop" mode will be automatic, or selectable.Some of those lenses may have an image circle somewhere between the two sizes, which could be usable with a manual crop in PP.

I only have one lens left on my wish list and that is the 77mm. Once I get that I am all set for lenses whether it be crop or FF.

That said if they came out with a 20mm FF lens like the FA20 I might snag one of those too assuming I pick up the FF camera.

Unless I come into some big money I do not see myself picking up the yet to be released FF camera for at least another couple years. My K3 is not even two months old so that's not going anywhere anytime soon.

While attending to my LBA, I've hedged my bets and mostly have bought FF glass, so my investment in crop sensor only lenses is quite modest.

I don't know how quickly I would jump to FF as my K-3 is still young and darn good to use, but I when I eventually get to the replacement point for the K-3, I suspect I'll end up with FF.

It's really only my Tamron 17-50 and the DA 55-300 at risk were I to make the jump. The DA 10-17 is apparently ok on FF at the long end (which is still pretty damn wide on FF anyway), and would seem to be limited towards the wide end by the built in hood (which some owners of the equivalent Tokina lens for other brands have surgically removed to improve FF compatibility - Tokina even offers a hood free version now). And in respect of the Tamron 17-50, the FA20-35 I've had for a year or so has pretty well pushed the Tamron off my camera for everyday use anyway. The Tamron still comes out for city nightscapes though, where the combination of wide FOV and superior starbursts comes into play.
