I always appreciate well-considered and cogent advice
Depends on whether you measure your crap in volume or pixels....

My advice makes more sense if you have a beer first.

I would like to see a comparison between the 600mm zoom lenses and the 450mm Pentax, on the same target at different distances. Nikon D810 has the same sensor as Pentax K-1 so we can have a fair comparison.

I'd like to see a comparison between a 610 and 150-600 and a K-3 and 150-450, which ends up being a good lens or good body kind of comparison.

Original manufacturer lenses can demand an average price premium of +40% for exactly the same specs as demand is there. If you are not willing to pay that, go somewhere else, the original manufacturers will not shed tears loosing the irrelevant cheapo customers.
Oh no.... I want a 150-600mm zoom lens for $50 bucks and I will expect it to perform like a $6,000 lens because I'm soooo much smarter than those doobs that buy expensive lenses. And most of all I'm worth it. It's all about me me me.....

Now you have folks who complain about frame rate and buffer sizes for full frames (see other threads of complains about K1 buffer size). I'm long to understand, but I finally get it... Fast apsc camera + prime at least 1 stop faster than the FF lens, has several advantages over full frame and slower long zoom: sharpness of the zoom at 600m isn't matching that of a prime lens having half the weight and size, and full frame + 150-600 zoom is bulkier, and it is more expensive and FF buffers get clogged faster. So, unless considering a $5K+ camera such as D5 or 1D, the second best alternative is to get an apsc Dslr in the league of the K3.

I am sure if Pentax intoduced something like the Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM Lens at around 7000$ (like the canon), people would still compare it to the Sigma 150-600 contemporary, because... Pentax.

On a more serious note, I saw the lenstip review of the Sigma 150-600 sports versus contemporary and it is significantly better and 50% heavier. Probably Sigma Sports version is more lens for the money than Pentax 150-450, I am not so sure about the contemporary version. It looks kind of average.

No one has to buy a DSLR or an expensive lens just to take "poop birds images". All you need is a compact camera (18x zoom). Mine costs 50-60$. It can handle poop birds as long as no one is interested in pixel peep in order to see the details from the poop.

Later edit: by poor birds images I wanted to say birds who takes a poop (poop birds images).

As I said in another thread, I take pictures with any camera I have at my disposal because shooting it's fun. Accidents like this one can happen regardless the camera you have on you.

That seagull is an artist, or has an artistic @s$!

In any case we all know how easy it is to take poor pics regardless of your equipment! Sometimes they even have birds in the frames as well...

Then go out, buy all the stuff and make your comparisons...

I can offer a comparison between Sigma 150-600 C on D800e / D5300 and DFA 150-450 (with 1.4 TC) on K-3 II / K-70. On a target at medium distance (10 to 20 meters).

The burden of proving something goes the claimer.

I can give you some links about the things I claimed. Can you do the same?
