Pentax A 50mm f/2.8 macro - first shot

Well, not exactly the first shot, but pretty darn close to #1. I prefered the ASA dial to the ballpoint pen and coin I shot first. This is the ASA dial on an old Minolta SRT-102. I got the Pentax A 50mm f/2.8 macro in mail today after winning it on ebay. Now I need to go find some insects to shoot.

Only adjustment was white balance in camera RAW.

Uncropped

100% crop

That looks pretty good, xs400.

I love photographing cameras with other cameras.

I'd say the lens is a keeper.

Which aperture did you use?

I'm on the verge of getting a macro, but still haven't decided which one yet.

Good luck with your lens.

That lens is definately a keeper. Excellent demonstration of the capabilities.

There was a time when I thought the K100d would NOT be capable of such fine detail. When first shooting wit the kit lens impressions were not good. The fast 50 M series from the K1000 changed my mind in a hurry with very good resolution. Add the reversing ring for macro and WOW!

Mike,
The 50mm f2.8 macro is definately a keeper. The above shot was taken at f/4.5 and 1/6 sec. I have to say this is the sharpest lens I have. I am glad I got it.

The A 50mm macro has also shown me that the K100D is quite capable of fine detail.
