Any experience with the new Tamron 70-200 f/2.8?

I see from the ads in my magazines that Tamron now have a 70-200 constant f/2.8 zoom, in a Pentax mount.

Has anyone in here got one, tried one, or seen one?

Any photos? Any ideas how this may compare with the not-quite-here-yet Pentax DA* 60-200 or whatever it turns out to be? (Apart from the obvious lack of SDM focusing motor)

Any comments much appreciated.

I don't think it's available already for Pentax mount. But I think there are some sample images from the C* version around the net.

Hmmm - thanks for that. It is being advertised here in Australia, but perhaps delivery date is not yet here...

I'd be interested in anyone's impressions once they've had a chance to try this one. It could be an alternative to the Pentax that still isn't out...

I am eagerly awaiting this lens.

I have seen a review with many test pics in it ... and from what I have seen it looks very good indeed.

Check out Google and search .. that's what I did and I stumbled across an early review on it (not in Pentax mount though ... but was good nonetheless).

There was a shot of this lens from a show as well .... was a complete cross-section cut-away demo of the lens showing the internals too.

It has been advertised in the US for $699US ... cheap really for a new lens that is that length zoom at f/2.8

From what I've seen in Canon forums, it's optically very good. The focusing is a little slow (and noisy) as compared to USM/HSM on the Canon platform. It's also not stabilized.

So........It should ROCK on Pentax since you have sensor-based stabilization.

I'll see if I can find the test site I stumbled across as well ... the test images were really very good indeed.
