These are not premium glasses... The FA* 300 f4.5 and FA* 400 f5.6 are much better lenses...

The A star 300 comes with free dust and fungus, so I'm thinking maybe that is rare and should command a premium price

Certainly not; The A*300 is an optical design without ED glasses, meaning poor correction of chromatic aberrations; the FA* 300 f4.5 is an IF-ED lens, it incorporates 3 ED elements (in blue here)

for superior corrections. This is the presence of these ED elements more than the presence of AF that justify the price.
plus internal focusing and of course autofocus

I have the F*300 lens which has been compared to the FA*300, but I've never seen anyone equate the build design and image IQ of the A*300 with either of those two lenses.

Clearly the F*300 is better than the FA*300. Why? Because it looks cooler with the white finish. Like the A*300 2.8
