DA* 55mm f1.4 alternate hood solution

With the help of a forum member, I bought a DA* 55mm f1.4 which was only missing a hood and caps. The original hood is very impressive but I found a good replacement. It's the JJC copy hood for the DA 55-300 lenses. They call it the LH-RBG. Its plastic bayonet fits on the DA*, it reverses, and it has the slide-out window for a polarizer. It doesn't vignette. It's certainly not as perfect as the real hood - I might add some flocking or fabric inside - but it's a decent alternative.

It needs marks to align it.

It may not be easy to see here but the interior is just the same matte plastic as the exterior, no texture or anything. It's a craft project opportunity.

Sweet! It's certainly not as sexy as the OEM hood though

Wonder if it will vignette on the K-2?

I think so, based on squinting at the corners of an MX viewfinder. But a quick trip to the bandsaw and this $15 hood is instantly the right length.

Awesome. Gonna be a great lens. Have any shots taken with it you'd like to share?.

Also. Always cool to see Pentax users. There's not a lot of them.

definitely need to shop for a "normal" length hood that fits the bayonet lock... this lens is one I want to use on that certain future body everyine is anticipating.
