What kind of duty are you going to have to pay for that when it arrives here?

Jason
There is a 6.7% of customs duty in the EU for SLR camera lenses. This is calculated on the whole price including the transport costs. Then you have to add your local VAT rate on that.

That's still 20% lower than the best online price I found in EU!
It's an experiment of mine, anyway

That's correct. And the best part is: Sigma has international warranty for the lenses.

Edit: You said, that you put an order at Adorama?
I just calculated:

Lens: $499 plus $47.50 to Greece = $546.50 = 364 EUR
Plus customs duty and VAT (20%): 364 EUR * 1.267 = 461 EUR.
I can get this lens for 450 EUR here at a local store....

But I can't ....
The only reason for me to buy from some local store is to try the lens first and then buy the exact one tested. I've done that with many lens I've bought or didn't. But as I said before, buying lens overseas is an experiment of mine. I've found more interesting prices to other merchandise as well (i.e. tripod, flash ...)

EDITED: A photographer friend of mine, told me that he has bought several lens from Adorama and only once he had to pay duties on an over $1000 Canon lens. Most of the time, with less than $750 merchandise, the lens went directly to his workshop. He has calculated that overall he has payed 5% duties.

It can happen that customs officers are not doing their job as they should. Luckily for you! But EU regulations are very simple: The shipments up to 25 EUR (including postage costs) are taxes free.

I'm about to order a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC.
I've red a lot about ultra wide lens (not fisheyes) on the net and I decided to buy the above mentioned lens (fine analysis and reasonably low CA and PF).
Is there anyone to avert me from buying it?
If you get the Sigma 10-20 it is likely you will not get the Pentax 10-17 and/or 12-24.

I spoke with Sigma Slovenia directly. Dealers are crazy here in Slovenia too.
I was asking them about international warranty and they made me a better offer. Try it yourself too.
