PLEASE make me NOT buy Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC

I mean it
I'm about to order a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC.
I've red a lot about ultra wide lens (not fisheyes) on the net and I decided to buy the above mentioned lens (fine analysis and reasonably low CA and PF).
Is there anyone to avert me from buying it?

EDIT: What Am I asking in the LBAs lair !

its old

if you wait a year or two some of the newer lenses should come out, like the Tamron 10-24 or 11-17 or something ike that (or was that a Tokina.. anyway)

but for NOW the sigma is your best bet.

I've been looking at this and the Pentax 12-24mm and here are my thoughts

Pentax -> I would prefer this the most but it's just plain expensive
Sigma -> I would settle for this but...
Tamron -> I'm waiting for this one before i decide on any

Buy and Send to Me...

Order it...It is a horrible lens. But, send it to me, as I am a masochist and I will send you my Brand New "Holga" 60mm Fixed aperture f8.0 "Plastic Element" lens with Body Cap and Front Lens cap at no extra charge. You pay all postal charges.

I won't do this deal tomorrow. Today only....

If you buy the 10-20 then this will upset the natural order of things and cause a rift in the time space continuum. This resulting tear will result in apocalyptic events which will mean the end of mankind as we know it, but on the bright side you will be able to capture panoramic views of these catastrophic events.

Hi gkopeliadis

Dammit all, RESIST man, have you NO back-bone whatsoever ? I couldn't and just LOOK what it did to my bank balance....every time I walk into that establishment, I keep getting s******ing looks from the counter-clerks as they finger-point to the large hole that it's blown in my savings account. Whatever you do, DON'T read the threads below.......do you hear me ?

Don't forget to click on the 'magnify' icon at the top-left of the Gothic Symmetry image (second image down), to view it in all it's glory !

Best regards

P.S. Well clearly you can't control your own impulses, therefore you're obviously not the sort of chap to be entrusted with vital information.....oh well, that just reminds me of the mangled old adage about "all's well that ends expensively" !

I put the 10-20 on my camera in the shop and tried some interior, some outside walls, neighboring buildings and city horizons which proved to me for my intended purposes that this lens would be more effort to correct in pp than it was worth. Big vignette and distortion on this guy - maybe not so much his fault as that of such an extreme focal range. Also, it is very difficult to capture meaningful detail at this range with subjects being so pushed away. Its good if you like to capture everything you see before in a single frame, but it doesn't look 'real' anymore. Its an effect lens if you enjoy skewed perspectives of super-wides, but it had four strikes against it before 5 minutes of use for me and I had gone in wanting to like it.

I might investigate the 15mm limited when it comes out hoping a new prime in this range is better corrected, but what became clear was that my best bet for wide shots was deferring to my existing FA31 and stitching if necessary.

Can you go to a shop and try this lens? Might help you know if its for you or if you'll discover it isn't, and no LBA is left lingering

I would personally wait and see what the new Tamron 10-24 is up to.
