I'm brand new to here, and need advice on the best lens for great shots of the night sky. I've been using my Pentax 16-45mm, however the fastest it gets is f4. It does ok, but I've seen some great shots here with the Pentax 10-17 fisheye, and want to buy it! Does anyone use this lens, or one of the Samyang wide angles? The pentax is kind of expensive, and I'm not sure if f3/5 is fast enough for the money.
Any advice would be welcome! Thanks.
With the 12-24, you get NO hyper-focal scale, which is stupid for an ultra-wide; I've been asking for YEARS for a digital HFS with a software upgrade, it would be quite easy to do, but so far, nothing from ANY manufacturer. If you want wide, get the 15; if you want to explore the 'near-far dichotomy', get the 14, both of which HAVE a hyper-focal scale. This shot is from my 14, probably my favourite lens:
I would like something wider, as well, but NOT a zoom. Keep hoping and asking for a 10mm f5.6 limited WR and maybe it will happen someday.
Cheers,
