Also, I know a lot of people like the SLR Magic 35mm lens. It's razor-sharp in the center with blurrier edges and swirly bokeh. It's great for portraits and artistic shots. They make them in different mounts, I think it runs around a hundred bucks.

Just picked up a Pentax K M 50mm f/1.4 today at the show for $75. Only thing wider was a manual 24mm f/2.8
