Where do I find a SMC Pentax-A 35mm 2.8 ?

I have been looking for a SMC Pentax-"A" 35mm f2.8 prime lens to complete my collection for 18 months now and cant find one at all? Is this that rare of a lens ? I see the f2.0 for sale frequently for around $300+ but not the f2.8 at all....ever ?
Is my timing just bad and Im missing it or what ?

Why not just put a "wanted" item and see if someone has it....at the price you are willing to pay?

Yeah...Duhhh. Thanks...I just posted it.
I still want to find out if it is rare or why there aren't any around ? Maybe people just hang on to them because they are so good ? Just sort of baffled by the rarity of a lens that should be more common than the f2.0 version ?

The A35 2.8 is a relative rarity on the market. Never a kit lens, to my knowledge, so millions of Pentax slr cameras were sold with 50mm lenses.

I bought the most expensive "A" lenses I wanted first ..... then slowly worked my way to the cheaper ones...or should I say the ones I thought would be.....lol.
Never did I dream the 35mm "A" 2.8 would end up being the hardest for me to get and the most elusive.

Well the A lenses were contemporaneous with the Pentax A and Program slrs. Fast 50mm and zooms were common kit lenses. The A35 2.8 was a wide angle lens on film. But the marvelous A24mm was probably a more desired wide angle for those who wanted that FOV range. Much like the rare A50, 2.8 Macro, the uncommon A lenses were outnumbered by 50mm kits and zooms, then superseded by the F lens with AF after a brief reign. Good luck with your search.

I bought one on ebay just some days ago and am waiting for it to be delivered. Paid around €150. Saw it on Ebay and click "buy now" Am curious to try it. From the wide angles I also own the A 20, A 24 and A 28. The 20 is always on my camera!

The M 35/2.8 is a fairly common lens. But by the 1983, when the A series came out, the old standard 3 lens prime kit was out of favor. A 28mm, 35-70 zoom, 50mm, and 70-210 or 80-200 kit became much more common.

I have 2 copies of the M. Both have sluggish blades.

Don't tell me this...lol.
Ive seen like 2 on there in the last year and both were sold/closed listings. I hope your just pulling my leg to be mean...lol.
I have exactly the same as you. I love my "A" 24mm and 28mm lenses.....have the 16 but haven't tried it yet at all. Have all 5 of the 50's and the 1.7 is my favorite 50mm followed by the 1.2 for bokeh.
All the A series are quickly becoming favorites over the SMC-K's except maybe the K35mm since I haven't found an A replacement yet...lol.

I know....that sucks. I bought three 135mm Auto sears from Ebay at different times and every one is slow , or just stuck wide open. Not worth getting repaired since they were all less than $12 each. I just gave up on that one.
