Or is it "Plastic Fantastic?" I just pulled the trigger on the DA 50mm f1.8 to use for portraits. I've been mulling it for some time. Now my family has ganged up on me and persuaded me to do a trial shoot for my granddaughter's senior portraits so I figured the time was right. I have a Pentax-A 50 2.0 and a Pentax-M 50 1.7 but I wanted the added advantage of autofocus capability plus the little plastic wonder has a stellar reputation. If it's anything close to my 35 plastic fantastic I will be ecstatic and at $99.00 with free shipping I couldn't pass it up.

Just 2 more 50s and you'll officially have LBA. I suggest the 8-element Super Takumar 50/1.4 and one of the other K mount 50/1.4s. Much more affordable than the 50/1.2s.

I resisted buying the DA 50 for a long time until I was basically told by my professor that we had to shoot the portrait class I'm in with a 50 for the next three projects or else. I can say I've been pleasantly surprised by it and think it'll stay in my bag for a long time.

I bought it when Pentax had an offer basically slashing the price in half... couldn't resist, even though I had a 50mm Centon already (but that was quite damaged, despite an all metal construction).

I love it.
