Is this the Sigma Sport or Contemporary 150-600? From what I hear, the S has just slightly better IQ than the C (and better build/weather sealing), but nearly twice the price, and significantly bigger and heavier.

I have the DFA 150-450 on preorder (and my wallet hates me for it), but if the Sigma C (or the Tamron) is coming for Pentax, I might have to reconsider. Unless the DFA has dramatically better IQ over the common range, it's hard to argue with a nearly 60% lower price. As far as build quality/weather sealing, the $1400+ savings would go a long way towards funding a DFA 70-200 f/2.8, which is a focal range and aperture I'd be more likely to use in bad weather.

I would wait for official confirmation from Sigma for the 150-600mm sport and contemporay lens before jumping for joy as they have been asked on a few occasions and stated that there were no plans for the PK mount!

The by-line on the advertisement is sigmaphoto.com.au which is really C.R.Kennedy, a company that is also known as Pentax Australia. There is nothing on their web site (that I have found) about this lens at all (even for the other mounts).

It is a good news... But in most of situations, the advertise has some typos..

I'm pleased with my Sigma 150-500...at about half the price of the 150-600. Pics are very sharp with the 150-500 and of course there is that matter of 100mm more with the 600....but...is it worth it ?

I guess none of us know for sure, till the Pentax mount version comes out and testing commences.

One forum member who got a chance to try the 150-450 in a camera show in Brussels said the Af on the K3 beat the Sigma on a Nikon D800. We don't know much about IQ but I'd keep the preorder on the D-FA

Interesting, but I don't see why they would release the S version without first offering the C version.

As Adrian says, C R Kennedy are the official Australian distributors of both Ricoh and Sigma products. So they would know.

Their advertising lacks a little polish though: "Hand crafted in Japan" Can you see all those artisans lovingly hand-grinding and polishing every element, like Murano craftsmen fashioning a telescope for Galileo?

I have seen some visit of Sigma factory photos at dpreview... They sure mix by hand and machines while making their lenses. You know if you sell a lense $1500, you can afford to have a few hours of well paid specialized worker in it... Should not something in the range of 50-100€/h in western europe, so really feasible.
