Great shots of the white dahlia, think I have this one too. A close-focussing 135mm is pretty much ideal for closeup flower photography, I find. I catch myself often using the Pentax 67 135mm f 4.0 macro, adapted to the K-1 with lots of sharpness and no vignetting since the K-1 uses only the innermost part of the big P67 lens.

This is from the local botanical garden, I'm fortunate that I only live a few miles away. And, yes, 1/2 is ideal for flowers. I also have a Vivitar 90-180mm close focus zoom that goes 1/4 at the lower end and 1/2 at 180mm. It's also a great lens for flowers and close-ups, although it's not a prime.
