Slowness? Whatever it is, they do render differently, and very nicely!

Chinon 135mm f2.8

I have five different full-frame 135mm lenses, and this one is the Auto Chinon Multi-coated135mm f 2.8. Sharpness is adequate, but color rendering is a little puzzling at times. Here are three walk-about shots.

I am not an optical designer, but like other engineering challenges I wonder if it is a game of compromises. Perhaps designing for maximum speed requires a compromise in other things, like color rendering perhaps. The K35 f/3.5 has a more simple optical design than many other lenses of the modern era, but sometimes simpler is better. Just thinking out loud, don't really know much about it.

perhaps with the slower aperture of f3.5, it's able to hold more pixie dust?

That's probably just as good as any other explanation

Bokeh at 4.5

At an aperture of 4.5, it is still possible to hold plenty of bokeh too.

NOTE: KIT: K-1 with Pentax 67 75mm f 4.5 (with adapter).

So that's what it looks like! I always imagined it was a bit more finely granulated...

sorry - nothing more pedestrian that a bowl of yeast (for the dinner rolls she was baking)...

I would hope that pixie dust had a bit more glitter to it....

Pixie Dust Dudes!

The FA 77 is soo full of pixie dust I can't believe it! Just a picture of an everyday item looks like Santa sprinkled some magic dust on it! Pictures of my sad looking plum tree's bare branches looked great! I even started an album for it on my 500px page. Thomas Needham (tmneedham) Photos / 500px
