That is useful, thanks!

Or maybe I should save up for the DA 35 Limited... lol

Or get one old manual ffocus

Losing a light stop or two doesn't really excite me.

Christian, this old Vivitar macro that arrived yesterday is capable of stunning detail - it does not like the combination of strong light + reds, but anything beyond that is SHARP....

now, I'm not going to trade in my Tamron 72B for it, but it's quite capable...

K-3 with HD DA 35mm f2.8 Macro Limited

shots of the new lens (Vivitar (Komine) 55mm f2.8 Macro), with an SMC A 50mm f1.4 for comparison purposes:

and the Vivitar's party piece, the full extension at 1:1

this is the first lens I've had that the focus ring spins beyond a full 360*

the lens is in surprisingly-good shape, given its age

even has the original slip-on cap.... which is responsible for the slight rubbing marks at the top edge of the barrel you see in these shots

all the mechanics are in good shape - the focus ring is well-damped and does not stick or bind anywhere in its ridiculously-large path, nice snickety from the aperture ring....

only two faults that I've found: there is a cleaning mark/scuff on the bottom element (you can see it if the light is right, but hasn't appeared in any shots) and the focus ring grip is loose - if I don't grip it intentionally, it will spin in my hand...

summer thunderstorms

this is the tail end of a series of storms that kicked-off tornado warnings across four states - highly unusual for this late in the year...

Very nice! I have a Vivitar (Komine) 28/2.8 closefocus that also impresses me with it's build and IQ.

I found my M42 copy in a local camera shop, in as good, or better condition. I'm not one to generally go for a Vivitar, but I couldn't resist a 1:1 50mm macro lens.
