did any manufacturer (aside from Pentax) do a modern 55mm lens?

Zeiss did one for Sony for a while. Do not know if they still do.

and, as a completely different thought...

what about a Sigma 70mm f2.8 EX DG Macro?

I've read (here and elsewhere) about how sharp and wondrous it is.... anybody here have one?

I have the 70mm Sigma. I have had some good pictures from it but tend to not use it over the Tokina AT-X 90mm. The Sigmais heavy and while it delivers fine detail, photos just seem to be lacking something. Best use is for close focus macro. I really should sell it, but it will not work on a K1 because of Sigma mount issues.

Here are a few examples that are decent, but I'd like a better portrayal. Jpgs with very minimal tweaking

(we did not have pizza from this establishment, just thought the cluster of signage was interesting)

Hi Dave

I hope your "Pizza Hut" pizzas are better than the crap they make over here

"Heavy" Competitor And Official

Now you know they got the idea for Rosa Klebb's spiked shoes... "Heavy" competitors have always worn them for extra grip.
