Just acquired one of these, inspired by this thread,. I am very impressed by the colours on my K3 - indistinguishable in flat lighting from my HD Ltd lenses - less so with the sharpness at wider apertures. What interests me though is how it will perform on a film camera in B&W. How have you found it in general use with regard to flare and CA's

as far as flare & aberrations, I'll leave this here:

(look closely and you'll see the reflection of the aperture blades in the shot)

I just remember to not shoot directly at strong light sources....

OK - starting all over

M42 lens on the way, I have the OEM M42/K-mount adapter.... anything I should know or be aware of aside from what I've read in the manual lens/M42 article?

If you're getting the OEM adapter, you should be good. I have two, and they both install and uninstall effortlessly. Actually I just leave them there most of the time, since they are "dedicated" bodies, more or less. (*ist D and K10D) Be aware that some m42 lenses, esp the smaller ones (like my Industar 50-2) will leave the lens mount partially exposed. This hasn't posed a problem for me. Have fun, and see you in the Takumar Club soon!

gotcha - I do have the OEM adapter already and the Super Takumar 55/1.8 should be here next week...
