female Sumatran Tiger at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center

bad new from London:

after a 10 day delay, they introduced the newly arrived male to the female and the male then killed the female

Rare tiger kills prospective mate in London at first meeting

“Their introduction began as predicted, but quickly escalated into a more aggressive interaction,” the zoo said.

Contingency plans called for handlers to use loud noises, flares and alarms to try to distract the tigers, but that didn’t work. They did manage to put Asim, 7, back in a separate paddock, but by that time Melati, 10, was already dead.

Asim’s arrival at the zoo last week had been trumpeted in a press release showing him on the prowl and describing him as a “strapping Sumatran tiger.”

The organization Tigers in Crisis says there are only estimated to be about 500 to 600 Sumatran tigers in the wild.

The D FA 100 Macro WR has been on the K20D for several weeks. I should so the Single In challenge but I can't seem to get in the groove to get started on those.

Very nice No sun to be seen around here - it's just cloudy, dark and drizzly.

still working with this lens - in strong light, it loses contrast dramatically and through the help available in this forum, we've determined that it may be the hood that is simply too wide for an APS-C body (this is a DG lens)...

so I've got a more narrow hood on the way (82mm, really?)...

until then:

while you are waiting could you tape paper or card board to the existing filter to approximate different sizes of hood

won't look too good but it might narrow down what you are looking for ??
