Here is the K-1 with the "Vivitar SMS 28mm f 2.8 MC Close Focus Wide Angle." MFD on this lens appears to be about 6 inches! My copy was made for Minolta, so I am using it on K-mount cameras with an MD-PK adapter. Since I have that adapter in hand, I am tempted to try a couple of other Minolta lenses although the highly reviewed ones are not particularly cheap, the 85mm f 1.4 and the 50mm f 1.2 being good examples. Anyone have ideas on good Minolta MD lenses?

I've always thought the 58mm lenses had beautiful rendering.... but don't have an adapter...

First - great shoots, nicely composed on the 28mm FL. I love shooting close ups with my 28mm's; I'm a firm believer that they're not only for wide/landscapes.

Q - what does the MD adapter looks like - does it have an extra element (I believe so)? If it does, you are still getting great results even with the added glass.
Will shoot a photo later, running right now . . . no glass, not even a very thick adapter.

the MD to PK adapters I've seen have a 1.4x corrective lens in them to give you infinity focus, otherwise unobtainable without the additional glass in the adapter....

Man I wasn't thrilled with this lens when you first posted; I reckon the sample shots were good as always from you, but it did not pop as an outstanding, over the top lens.

Your latter samples speak differently. The lens can do lots, behaving differently depending on the situations it is used. Nice!

thank you, Ed - it took a bit for me to find this lens' character, as it does with most lenses (why I like the Single In for lens evaluation)....

there is so much depth to this lens....

You are right, sorry, I just was not paying attention. It definitely has glass.

With your collection, why do you need another lens? I truly thought the Carl Zeiss 100mm f 2.0 macro planar T* would end the obsessive search for the Holy Lens Grail.

I know, I know . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . lba.

Is there any cure for that dreaded disease?

You are quite correct. I am just about finished buying lenses of any type, having reached the 100 mark. The only additional lens that I am thinking about is the Zeiss 50mm planar. I already have all the Pentax 645 and Pentax 67 lenses except the Pentax 645 25mm and some of the longer 645s and 67s, which I actually do not want, except perhaps the 645 400mm. The Zeiss 85mm is, of course, an attractive possibility, though I really do not need it, at least if I were to buy another lens it would not be the CZ 85 but maybe instead the CZ 35, which is said to be quite good. I am not interested in zoom lenses at all, except maybe . . . well, you get the idea. Pretty much finished up buying lenses.

I submit the attached photograph as evidence that I do not need more lenses, and that I am near the end of my quest for the perfect lens.
