Almost Abstract

I must admit flowers weren't my thing... but I'm coming round due to simple forms and low lighting.

Reflections on Mystic Pond.

After heavy frost last night, sunlight is now the theme of the day. I call this shot Reflections on Mystic Pond (our garden pond). Irises are included as an after thought in their second day of full blossom.

KIT: 645Z with Pentax 67 55mm f 4.0.

Other advantages are:-
they can be always available, you can easily control your lighting, you can take them indoors or out, they do not move (unless by wind), a whole range of different lenses can be used effectively, you can control your background.
They are a great subject when most other photographic opportunities are unavailable!
Oh and by the way Kerrowdown, I really like what you are doing with them so far, so carry on!

Perhaps I phrased that badly by saying they weren't my thing, what I meant was... I've never been able to make any real money from photographing flowers.

Thank so much for your kind words.

I have one of these Sigmas, it's brilliant on my Pentax K-70 and also on a PK adapter on the Sony A7ii. Here three from last weekend on the Sony fullframe.

Medium format flowers

Our lilacs finally blossomed today!

KIT: 645Z with Pentax 67 55mm f 4.0. This lens is among the sharpest ever made by Pentax, and its 13.7 inch MFD makes it an excellent objective for flower photography. I like it so much at maximum aperture that I hardly use anything else.
