I am afraid, now that you, the OP, have opened the floodgate for all kinds of heresy!

So is this your current favourite 24mm? Mine is still the Vivitar (which I think is a Cosina, s/n starts with 97) but I am wary of the Ricoh pin.

nah - my original idea for this thread was for any and all primes, especially something we haven't seen or considered before....

no, not my favorite... too much distortion for my taste, but great clarity and huge colors...

Zenit Helios prime

A few shot with the Helios 58mm.

KIT: K-1 with Zenit MC Helios - 44K-4 58mm f 2.0, the only Helios focal length that I have found in Pentax K mount. This lens even MC version seems subject to flare.

I had a 44K also.... you would have thought that I had started a magnesium fire from all the flare from that lens....

f 2.0, but you don't have to go there to get flare with this lens!

I am intrigued. I reviewed my flickr 44k-4 abulm and no photo there was made under a situation calling for flare.

I will provoke the lens in these coming days (Friday allegedly will be nice and sunny here) and report back.

Thank you. Just a little tip. I always use a diffuser in front of my K3 or KP's in built flash. Set the camera to manual and just fiddle with the exposure and flash output to get the exposure right. I have been doing it for a while now so am pretty close to correct exposure by guess work at first attempt.

here we go - one of my favorite Helios 44 shots

flare, abberrations, and if you look closely enough, you can see the reflected light from the bare-metal aperture blades....

Seeing this in mobile. Lovely shot but I cannot see the flaring. In Ivan's shot the first shit it was obvious. Here, I don't know. ... I'll check again in my computer.
