We're not that far from you here in DFW. We hit 81 yesterday...today, windy and 56.

Image 28/2.8 on *ist D, using a Tri-X emulation. I like this old combo as a light walkaround kit:

This was an Agfa APX Pro 100 emulation. That is not a film I ever used, I used a lot of Tri-X, Plus-X, Ilford Delta 100 and 400 back in the day. K-3 with Rokinon 10mm.

The DA 21 is a fairly new addition to your stable, right Dave? I love the 3d effect and contrast on the first image. What were the settings?

I have had the DA21 Ltd for almost two years - it's an amazing lens that's one of my favorites...

settings for the chairs: f6.3, ISO 100, 1/100 shutter speed, shot in jpeg and processed in Luminar...

So my daughter and I go for a walk. The first thing we encounter is a deer. And which lens do I have, 10mm (the only thing that could have been worse for wildlife is the fisheye ) Then later in the walk we find a live armadillo. Oh well, I did the best I could.

I think you did a pretty darn good job for only having a 10mm. Did the armadillo jump straight up in the air and twist 90 degrees while starting to gallop mid-air when you startled him? They are so funny to watch when you can sneak up on them and then they realize how close you are. (But never touch since they often (75%+) carry the bacteria that causes Hansen's disease, AKA Leprosy.)

Unfortunately no we didn't get it to jump, it just scurried away, I was surprised at how fast it ran. That sounds like good advice

Some photos of corrugated metal pipe with the Rokinon 10mm.

Their claws are pretty sharp and long also so catching them like some texas High School football players used to try to do is not real smart.

My son and I startled one at a rest area in Texas and he did the 2 ft high jump, straight up and hit the ground galloping in a different direction. Good thing I had finished my comfort stop because I laughed pretty hard.

When I went to Yellowstone I borrowed a Nikon 200-400 f4 lens from a friend who told me that i should just use a wide angle lens (he tries very hard to sound like a jerk but he is there for you when you need him). I used that lens shooting a grizzly but then 8 also took a shoot with my wife's Sigma 10-20 at 10 mm on my Kr and sent him a copy. He did not even know there was a bear in the image until I mentioned it. Your deer was a much better subject for ultra wide than that bear. ☺

Jeannie and I encountered a young one recently, rooting around just a few feet from the walkway. We kept still and watched him for several minutes. Even though we were just a couple feet away he never noticed us

I recently added yet another old 28mm lens to the stable - Vivitar (Komine) 28/2.8 Close Focus. It's quite a nice lens, and I like the colors and rendering. Taken end of January:

I've had armadillos walk into me, as I stood still watching them... in west Texas, they used to catch and race them (and release them)...
