Chopper 5
The photo is either somewhat soft and/or out of focus. I think it's probably the latter. The 500mm is an unwieldy lens, and at 700mm (with 1.4x TC attached) is even more unwieldier. :-)
Hopefully I will improve over time.
I also did a fair bit of work with CA removal. It was selective since the red/magenta trim on the chopper was affected by the eyedropper, so I had to put it back!
K-1 & K700/6.3 (aka, K500/4.5 + 1.4x-L)

Snow scene

Tuesday, another snowy day in northern Ohio.

KIT: Pentax 645D with (adapted) Pentax 67 75mm f 4.5. Lots of sharpness and good color rendering requiring little or no post processing on the 645D.

I might need to get me one of those newer Pentax Macro lenses. Your pictures have me craving.

Or maybe I should just use my M 50 f4 Macro more... it's a good lens that I have been neglecting lately.

Edit: looking at the few I took with it... yes I should definitely take it out again this spring for some flowers! But I have so many lenses for flowers... :sigh:

I am thoroughly impressed with this lens... and it's good throughout the range of shots I've used it for...

One of these days I'll pick up a dedicated macro lens. For flowers/closeups, I'll use the A35-70/4 or the autofocus F35-70. I have a new, unused Raynox 250 given to me by the late, great Rupert. I'm thinking of trying it on those two lenses.

From mid-February with the Super Tak 35/3.5 on *ist D:

the nice thing about a 'macro' lens is that it is usually not 'just' a macro lens - the three that I have (granted, the SMC A 100/4 does not get that close and is not a 1:1 macro) also take nice pictures throughout the entire focal length...

the D FA 50 I'm using this month for the SIC is quite versatile:

and for the price I paid for it ($159), it was a no-brainer....

Yes, often the macro lenses are very sharp throughout the full range of focus. This is the D FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR which I suppose is the big sister to the D FA 50 Macro. It makes a great general purpose telephoto lens on top of being 1:1 macro capable.

More than a macro lens

Here is another prime lens that is not just a macro lens, the Pentax-D FA 645 90mm f 2.8.

But the results speak for themselves, don't they

I guess this is the K version? It's on my list to get some day...
