Backyard buddies

A few birds from our back yard feeder.

KIT: K-3 with Pentax 67 200mm f 4.0. This is a nice prime lens for birding on crop sensor cameras such as the K-3. The field of view of the 67 200mm when mounted on the K-3 is approximately the same as that of a DA 600mm lens, which means that with a good birding blind, you can get close enough to fill the frame and do away with severe cropping,

Mmmmm, Eggs! I make a mean soft scrambled with local cheeses from our farmer's market. I have too many fisher cats, martens, foxes and assorted weasel like critters to make raising chickens something I am willing to do after my son's experiences years ago, and I would love to have fresh eggs all year around.

Here is a 100% crop of some ladybugs I took with my DA 50 1.8 this afternoon. I can't let the ladybirds out yet since the weekend is going to be below freezing with mixed sleet and rain and there is nothing for them to lay eggs growing yet. I still have at least 100 in the house after losing many to an extremely late spring. We are normally Ice-Out by now on the lake but we are not even close yet.

Please excuse my horribly dirty windows, spring cleaning starts downstairs and I don't want to kill any ladybirds.
