I love these flowers too. They are a member of the snapdragon family. Here is some more information I found.

as noted above, the red wildflowers are Indian paintbrush - it's a native prairie wildflower out here and, if the land is left un-tilled, will grow in the fields and add an amazing splash of color...

the white blossoms above are wild roses...

To me the ideal APS-C normal lens is the Sigma 30 1.4 Art. . . .

Strangely, it's not available for size comparison at camerasize.com, so I'm not sure how much bigger it is than the FA 31 Limited. . . . The Sigma 30 1.4 Art has a 62mm thread. So it's not small and it's actually a bit heavy (lots of glass in there) - even though it's smaller than my DA 16-45mm it's noticeably heavier than the Pentax zoom...

yes

I was very impressed when we went for our first time at the end of May last year

in addition to the " usual ", we saw mountain goats ( too far away for my set up), big horn sheep, eagle, osprey great horned owl, wolf, grizzly and almost full grown cub and a pine martin

" if the creek don't rise " photos from Yellowstone National Park - PentaxForums.com

this is my " make up " trip for not being able to go to Baja California and look for whales

if not an FA 43 Limited, why not a DA 35 Limited?

EDIT

moot point now, now that I bought an HD DA 35 Limited...

the above shot of Ms. Moneypenny was included because I was surprised that I was able to catch her on the move with the A200/4 and hold decent focus....

(two days until the new lens arrives)
