DA* 200 2.8

..so... in my search for a good used body to make my M42 platform, why not a K-01?

same sensor as a K-5, and from the reviews, excells as a MF camera body...

01 should work. I use a K-7, have never quite liked the screen approach to focussing on the 01, and think using it would reduce my interest in the Taks, but if the whole 01 thing works for you, give it a try and report back your experiences, maybe change some minds!

prices are pretty low, even for pristine examples, so initial cost isn't too bad if it turns out to be a no-go...

For your style of shooting, I think it would work very well. I was considering one back when I was looking for a "modern" body to go along with my older CCD-sensor bodies. The idea of the K-01 for use with primes is very appealing to me. I ended up with the K-5 when a killer deal presented itself, but I could see getting a K-01 in the future.

true..... but at this point, I think I may have talked myself out of the K-01, mainly due to a lack of viewfinder and the total loss of the LCD's view in strong sunlight....

I spend way too much time outside for a camera that you cannot see through to focus...

Yes, I've considered those limitations as well. We have pretty strong sunlight down here in Texas!
