it is official I am wimping out , after growing up in east central Illinois and spending years in Iowa 1979 - 2000, I moved to Kansas and now I think 30 degrees ( F ) is cold

in Illinois and Iowa, 30 degrees in January is a heat wave

so I haven't been out to try my recently acquired SMC Pentax-DA 70mm F2.4 Limited but today, I did take it out for a quick run

[ in the heated Rain Forest Exhibit at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center ]

first two crop and pp

third SOOC

then crop and pp

Most of the ones in the market at present don't have the collar.
If you can not get one with a collar you can buy a cheap aftermarket one for a Canon EF 80-200mm zoom and use a piece of bicycle inner tube as a shim. I did this for my Tamron SP 70-210mm lens, which has the same diameter as the 300mm. It works fine.

Love the Rok shots! And that is a great hallway! Is that your home? If so I am impressed! That Rokinon 10mm is pretty sharp when used properly. I hope the upcoming DA 11-18 is as sharp. Oops! I referenced a zoom lens in the Prime thread, I hope I am not banished!

Thanks. The home is my Wife's Cousin's. That house is a work of art built by her late uncle. The wood is all local lumber accumulated over several decades. There is oak, cherry, poplar, ash, elm, walnut and others that I can't think of. The main beam down the middle of this room is one continuous piece of cherry. (I referenced a zoom earlier also, so we will both have to go out together )

never really enjoyed the K300 - lots of color fringing, aberrations.. I liked the A400 much better...

I also have an old Tokina zoom (150-500mm) that I am intending to use this spring and figure out its value...
Thanks for the info. Perhaps I will just try to save some funds. I would really like an F*, FA* or DA* 300; I know what I want, just will have to be patient.

and that's always the hard part, especially if there are inferior lenses cluttering up your eBay list...
