Very sad story... one for which I am considering acquiring an additionl body at some point:
My 105 EX is EF mount and lacks an aperture ring. It predates the year 2002... in or around that time EF people (Cannon) made many changes to their software and how the camera and body communicate (software). All third party lenses that predate this time, albeit with the proper mount, cannot communicate with the 'modern' DSLRs.
Thus the only way I can use this lens with the EF body I have is by placing a piece of black electrical tape to block the contacts (so that the lens would act as an M42 for example); however, by doing this, there is no way that the aperture can be changed to anything other than wide open. I have to say, this is one of the best 100-105's I've ever used. I believe it is nicer and provides better results than the M or A 100/4.... and it goes to 1:1
