I do sport the 18-55 DA Kit lens (2nd vers), that most k-50's came with... I never use it though, as I favour the primes... I just want to feel where am I getting at distortion/fisheye and where am I staying true to a landscape.
on the flip-side, Ed, I also have the Sigma 10-20mm zoom and at 10mm:

normally - these shots I would not post here since it's not a prime, but I think the shots were relevant to your post....

The reflection-doubled flare in the first shot is very nice!

Wow that is a pretty straight horizon considering the focal range!

Awesome shots as usual.

I am impressed with the lens, especially since I'm really a prime shooter...

Thank you, though I prefer to term it as a mad dog frenzy shot.

This is my first post here, despite having mostly primes on my shelf, most of which are not current or recent product. From what I have seen on this site, 135mm is not particularly common in Pentax Forums posts, despite being a historic "must have" in the classic three lens kit for 35mm film. I am so very guilty to the point that while I have a 135mm lens, I don't know that I have ever shared photos from it other than with lens test/evaluation shots.

Soooo...earlier this week, I was doing a product shoot of a new macro lens for the "Latest Acquisition" thread and decided to do it with my 1971 Vivitar 135/2.8 (Komine, 5-element). Aside from a little flare due to not having an adequate hood and some LoCA (both corrected in PP), the results were unexpectedly pleasant.

Below (left to right) we have the amazing shipping box, the Lester A. Dine Dental 105mm f/2.8 Macro found inside, a stack of Ritz Crackers to show size, and the existing competition, Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 (72BB).

I've read a lot on this Lens (and its variables) - would love to see it in action if you can share some shots!

I do have a fair share of 135mms primes - all MF. PK mount, OM mount, M42s and even an M39 - the problem for me is that at cropped sensor, the crop is "odd" to say the least. Does great basically for flowers, and some long distance structures (I've successfully used the 135mm focal range shooting bridges and infrastructure at night).

I have not done any serious work with the Dine yet, but will be posting.

I agree regarding 135mm being an odd or clumsy focal length on APS-C. With FOV similar to 200mm on 35mm film it is hard to find appropriate subjects. Strangely, the MFD of 1.4m worked real well for the product shot above and provided the desired flat perspective and FOV.
