not sure of the beast remark, but I'll take it as a compliment....
- it was intended as a compliment. Even as translated from Spanish I see the confusion it might bring... it's a cultural thing - beast/bestia = could mean the worst or the best oddly enough. In your case the latter.

Great crayfish, and I am glad to see the chairs back again. I was about to start thinking you had sent them for recycling.

thank you - those chairs are a fixture here; if anything happens to them, I'll be scouring the flea markets for replacements...

Good question...the nearest I am aware of by spec would be the FA* 24/2.0. It is 20mm shorter, 10mm smaller at the filter ring, and 80g lighter than the Sigma. The AF version of the Sigma 24/2.8 Superwide is quite a bit smaller, though your point is well-made; both 24mm and 20mm were rather specialized focal lengths until fairly recently and entries into that space, particularly AF are a rarity.

Addendum: In a fantasy encounter, if I were ever to find both lenses in the case at Goodwill for $100, I would likely buy the Sigma, mostly because I like the EX DG look and feel over the plasticey look of the FA*. OTOH...Heck, for $100 I would buy both and let them duke it for supremacy on the closet shelf for the entertainment of the other lenses (fantasy, remember).

Steve

for $100, yeah, I'd take both and see which one tickled the itch and probably sell the other....

the Superwide AF had been on my 'watch' list for quite a while and I missed several before landing on the EX DG - I still see them come up occasionally and have to catch myself from reacting...

btw - none of the EX DG's are svelte:

Practice shots with the HD DA 70mm. I have two problems with this lens.
1. It is not a field of view I am used to using, so I am always miss-judging the distance to my subject for initial composition.
2, It does not feel like I have a telephoto lens on my K3, so I am sub-conciously thinking I have different lens on the camera to what I actually have.
Best keep practising then!

I own the 50/2.8 EX DG Macro and no, it is not compact in the least.
