From the garden

I am very much taken by the medium format prime lens, the Pentax 67 200mm f 4.0, used here on the 645Z.

Pushing the creative limits with the Dine 105/2.8 Macro and was having a tough time managing focus and the breeze under bright conditions a few days ago while shooting dahlias. I lucked out on this one...

Checking out a new prime . . .

Here is the K-1 with the "Vivitar SMS 28mm f 2.8 MC Close Focus Wide Angle." MFD on this lens appears to be about 6 inches! My copy was made for Minolta, so I am using it on K-mount cameras with an MD-PK adapter. Since I have that adapter in hand, I am tempted to try a couple of other Minolta lenses although the highly reviewed ones are not particularly cheap, the 85mm f 1.4 and the 50mm f 1.2 being good examples. Anyone have ideas on good Minolta MD lenses?

Missed you guys this past week or so... been checking your great posts on mobile but haven't posted (or shot most) these past weeks... Transitioning to a new place has taken a big toll on my time and hobby, hopefully by 1 to 2 weeks more I shall be stlled in and bothering you all with more frequent posts and comments! Cheers!

A few from my last day in the City...

A 100/4 on K-50

Hibiscus drowned in the bokeh

K 50/4 Macro:

Funny bit: I intended to grb my K 100/4 rather than the A 100/4... I was disappointed when I got to the park and realized my mistake; then I saw the shots and was pleasantly surprised. If I were to choose, the K is my keeper. But I think I can keep the A as a back up until I actually need to sell it.

The Vivittar 28 f 2.8 again

Frankly, I was a little disappointed with the first series of shots I just posted, but they were all wide open, no stopping down. However, I decided to try again at f 8.0, and here are three of the results. I will say that this lens is almost impossible to focus at f 8.0 using the usual K-1 frocussing aids. I had to focus wide open and then stop down, not too difficult since the aperture ring clicks, five clicks to the right from f 2.8 to f 8.0, no problem once you recognize you have to do it and learn how to do it. At f 8.0, the clarity is excellent.

First - great shoots, nicely composed on the 28mm FL. I love shooting close ups with my 28mm's; I'm a firm believer that they're not only for wide/landscapes.

Q - what does the MD adapter looks like - does it have an extra element (I believe so)? If it does, you are still getting great results even with the added glass.
