Nope that was done in camera. You'd have to create an adapter to do it. Commonly done with cutout inserts.

or run it wide open and see what shakes loose.....

Thanks Paul. It is a fun lens to play around.

This was my first ever Pentax Lens, on a used K1000 acquired around 2005-2007 - I shot many rolls with that one. I do not think I've used it in over 10 years.

definitely appears sharp enough, Ed - there's no iris/aperture in that lens, right?
None... but this little (well, not so little) fellah is all metal, awesome construction and feel = I will eventually do a photo-shoot of it; well merited.

I read a lot on this. Not going to do it for my copy. Too much work; for me this is all leisure and enjoyment,.

Same here - I think it came with an ME Super, along with a couple other lenses I bought back in 2011 or so. I gave it some work over the weekend. It's not a bad lens, punchy colors and sharp enough stopped down. I'll keep it on the old *ist D for awhile I think.

Rikenon XR 50/1.4 vs Pentax-A 50/2.8 Macro - the Rikenon holds its own in sharpness, but that sensor reflection is dreadful...

Kenlock automatic MC 135mm f/1:2.8 with Macro

Didn't nail the focus (and its DOF is very narrow) but wanted to show that soft "dreamy" effect. And now that I see it, that flowers deserve a pic taken with a proper macro lens

BTW the flowers happen to be of weed that grew in an unused (but filled with earth) pot.

Rumor has it that this lens is so good, that Mr. Masakazu Saori designed the DA 70 Limited based on that design.

So far the jury is out on the SMC-A 50mm f/2.8 Macro.

At macro distances, it doesn't seem as sharp as I hoped. It could be technique, but I didn't have issues with my DA 35 Limited Macro even at 1:1, and my SMC-M 50mm f/4 Macro at MFD also came out much better than what I was seeing in the viewfinder.

Another issue is that if the subject is sun-lit, the contrast seems to go down, and the white balance tends to be a bit warm for my taste. Both fixable in PP but not quite the same as getting the shot SOOC. But in general, saturation is quite high while contrast is relatively low. I've put a flash light inside the lens and can't see any haze and only a normal amount of dust. The glass seems pretty clean.

Bokeh is a bit busier than I hoped for at medium distances. DA 35 Limited Macro is better in that regard, and I think SMC-M 50mm f4 Macro bokeh was more neutral.

I have to give this lens a bit more effort, and use it with my newer cameras as well, to see what I get from it.

A very tiny rose at MFD. K200D and SMC-A 50mm f/2.8 at f8.

Pretty sharp a bit further away. Here with K200D and bounced flash by AF280T.

the DA 35 Limited should be better, in many ways....

I'm not seeing any issues with these two shots - maybe you need more time to let the lens work its way into your psyche....
