Sigma DC 18-125mm lens recognition/profile..?

My K5 labels the this lens as a pentax-f 28-80mm (or at least thats what is displayed when i review the pics in Lightroom 3.6) ! Is this a problem, is there a way of correcting it...

It's not a problem unless LR has a correction profile for the lens and that is used. Problem is caused by the fact that the Sigma identifies itself incorrectly.

You might be able to correct it with a tool like ExifTool or other exif editors.

I have a Sigma fisheye that identifies itself as a 70-200/2.8. I haven't figured out how to change it either.

My understanding is that lenses has a lens identification code - it's not the name of the lens but a code. This code is then interpreted into a lens name, by the camera or image editing software. Those codes are only for Pentax lenses, only Pentax lenses has reserved codes for them. Sigma lenses can use a Pentax code or some sort of dummy code... because there must be a code, the space cannot be blank. Third party software, like Lightroom, tries to make it's best guess and matches to a database... but it does not contain all lenses on the market. So errors in lens names with third party lenses is very common yes.

Lightroom is stupid, basically. It needs an update on the lens recognition function, and has for a long time. If you examine the extended exif code, there are a couple of places that have lens ID codes. Lightroom reads one and not the other. In my case, for one lens, it reads one that it translates to "sigma or tamron lens" even though there's another ID in there that it should be able to translate to Sigma 10-20/4-5.6
