SUPERFLY, indeed.
Those pentagonal reflections in the eyes have got to be some of the coolest features in macro pics. At least, to me they are.

Those insects... just never stay still! This is a fun thread, trading photos like this. I am lucky to have a nice day and all I need in my back garden. Makes a good rest from computer work to go out in the sun for a bit and chase flies.

As for Dorset -- been there once and it's high time I was back to visit my aunt. Also there's a monopod waiting for me... something to help with macros. I need to soon decide which lenses to pack. I am thinking the Series 1 is too heavy while the Sigma 70-300mm is more versatile. Besides, I am just not getting the best out of the Series 1 -- nothing like Igilligan's superfly. Perhaps because I can never get the hang of flash.

Give it time, I have only had a dslr for about 5 weeks and don't even have an external flash.
Everything I have done so far has been using the built in one.
