eBay craziness

I was doing my daily search of Pentax 50 1.2's to drool and count the days down until I get one when I ran across this: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=261837083833

The listing is great. But am I the only one that sees the photos tell a different story. Would it be okay etiquette-wise if I told them? It just let it be?

Hes an experienced seller. Also there is another for over $200 more he is selling. In this case I normaly wouldn't say a word as there are lots of listings that get messed up and you can spend all day notifying people....Ive done it before when I see new sellers messing up. If he was a new seller I would do it but he is not......I notified him anyway since he is a man I recently did business with and treated me perfectly.
Since the photo is so obvious I don't think its much of a foul except some unscrupulous seller may do a "Not As Described" case later and try skating with the lens for free.
You know in your heart what the right thing for YOU to do is.......... BTW.....I told him !

Thanks. I've corrected people before but not for that much money. Just was a bit confused on what was proper. Thanks again.

I see it all the time. Sellers need to be responsible and "Preview" and check their listings ! It has happened to me a couple times over 11 years Ive been selling.

I try to take the time for items that are grossly misaligned where the product interests me. In some cases the seller has posted the wrong photos and on correcting it I have made a purchase. More often the description fails to match but usually due to bulk postings.

I would nicely tell them, it's got to be a mistake, nobody could be that blatant and have 100% feedback,

Shame... such an amazing lens! It hurts me how so beautiful and expensive items are being left and abandoned and allowed for a slow decay, where so many photographers would enjoy and put them to great use...

Well, other than the fungus, it is in excellent condition, does not even look very worn, but there is a lot of fungus.

It's been attacked by a Canonite at some stage in its past (see the filed down aperture guard), Philistines, they probably gave it fungus too

Seeing stuff like this gives me Ire!

He's had reasonable time to correct the listing, now, but it's still as noted. The more expensive 1.2s listed by other sellers are A-series, while this is a K-series lens, so it's a good price for the claimed condition rating, but not with that amount of fungus. I wouldn't give him much longer before it should be reported. Some people may be distracted by Easter, but the seller is in Japan, so it's not so likely as if it was in a Western country. At least, a question to the seller would appear on the listing and alert potential buyers to the problem.

I've asked questions of sellers but they've never appeared in the listing.

I've had both outcomes - I'm not sure but it may be within the discretion of the seller to decide if the question and answer gets published with the item or remains private.

When I see errors I just send the seller a message. After reading this post I sent them a message this morning and just received a reply that he ended the listing because of the error.
