if you go for an ultra-wide, the DA15mm is a clear winner for me. if you want a fisheye, even though I have a Samyang 8mm and its not a bad lens, I recommend the Sigma 10-20 as its an excellent performer IMO. have not tried the DA 10-17 so cant comment on that.

If you are after a fisheye then the Samyang is a better lens than the DA 10-17. I have both. And the DA15 Ltd.

I've found the DA 10-17 to provide excellent image quality on the K-3. It's surprisingly contrasting and sharp and it's close focus ability is very nice.

I was thinking of going with the Zenitar 16mm. It's closer to my budget and it seems like a decent lens.

Another vote for the Pentax DA 10-17. It's versatile and has great IQ. It's one of my favorite lenses.

I have an old K fish eye SMC Pentax 17mm f4.0 - shooting it on crop "de fishies" the photography - so keep in mind that old non digital fish eye glass is severly handicapped on APS-C.

I also have a Rokinon 8mm Fish eye... love love love.
Sorry for not so fast reply, but did you use O-GPS1 module for this second image? I'm asking this because exposition is 210s.

Another vote for the 10-17. It's probably the most fun lens I own, and with distortion correction at 15-17 it's also an excellent landscape lens.

Trying to keep an eye on costs while still getting good value and good pics, for an ultrawide, a got the Sigma 10-20 f4.5-5.6.
For a fisheye, I tried the old Spiratone 12mm (which is supposedly better than the Zenitar 16mm), but I couldn't ever get satisfactory sharpness. I also simply had to plan how to utilize flare in the picture, because it was unavoidable.
So I sold that and got the Rokinon 8mm fisheye. As others have said, it's a whole different way of seeing and shooting. I'm learning, but it's really fun!
