Laurie, if you are willing to swap a wedding for a lens, you're heart's in the right place

As for a wide angle, if you're going for a zoom and want something that will probably be awesome, wait for Tokina to issue their 11-16mm f/2.8 in Pentax mount. Although I'm half hoping that Pentax will release it as a DA* encarnation.

I do not need a Fancy wedding, names on Paper, ring. To let God know I love my man and will be with him for the rest of my life.

Wedding is just in material, nothing more. Highly over rated. They make a promise, and in the end in most cases, not all, ends in divorce. So the promise they made between each other is broken, what a waste. Just my 2 cents. Not all marrages end this way, but some do.

We both know we love each other, and promised to be together, for as long as we both live. God knows this too. And we are happy with that.

So no wedding for us, we do not need a piece of paper or ring to remind us we are with each other for better or for wores. Our Love and care for each other and our children show us each and every day...

Oh I forgot I have one of those rolling suitcases... Tons of emply space in that. What can I say my bag was getting overcrowded.

I wish I could put all my lenses in one bag, but I don't think I'd love to carry it at all, especially along w/ some baby stuff we need to bring along wherever we go.

Normally I only carry one lens and camera when I'm out, and the Lowepro Toploader Zoom 1 gets used the most. It's perfect for a K20D plus any of my lenses up to the FA*28-70/2.8. Luckily in my current collectioin there are only two lenses which are bigger: F*300/4.5 and FA*80-200/2.8. Just got a Lowepro Micro Trekker 200 for that.

My hiking bag:
Lowepro Rover Plus AW
K10D w/battery grip
FA 20-35 or DA 18-55 on camera
K 200 f/2.5
FA 50 f/1.4
DA 14 f/2.8 (in Lenscase 1W)
DA 50-200 (In Lenscase 2S)
and not to forget the tripod: a Manfrotto 190x Pro-B w/486 RC2 ball head and plate

If I wanted to carry everything, most of the following would go in the upper compartment:
ZX-L film camera
PZ-10 film camera
FA 28-80 power zoom
FA 100-300 power zoom
AF-360FGZ
Sigma 28-80 (for novice macro work)

Not to get too off topic, but 8540- what do you think of the 200 f/2.5? I'm still debating whether or not it's worth it to carry both the 50-200 and the 200 f/2.5 (except for the extra 2 stops of light if I need it).

  • battery grip
  • pentax 100mm f/2.8 macro
  • tokina 80-200 f/2.0 zoom
  • sigma 28-70 zoom
  • pentax 18-55 kit lens
  • ring flash
  • pentax 360 fgz flash
  • Kenko 2x teleconverter
  • Sigma 1.4x teleconverter
  • Kenko 25mm extension tube
  • various and sundry filters, cleaning cloths, memory cards etc.
Carry separate:
  • Sigma 500mm f/4.5 APO EX
  • 2 tripods
Leave at home:
  • Pentax *ist ds
  • Quantaray 70-300 zoom lens

I'm thinking of adding the 50-135 da* lens what do you think? Or is it overkill? I have serious LBA and am trying to decide between the lens and studio lights.

Opinion appreciated

Steph,

Whether or not you get another lens or studio lights depends on how much you might use either one.

With that being said, if you're looking for something lighter weight than the Tokina 80-200 and you don't always need the 200 length, then the 50-135 would be a good choice. You could very well leave the 80-200 at home and take along a TC to use in a pinch, should you unexpectedly need to go past 135.

After taking a closer look at your kit, I would also encourage you to consider selling your 18-55 and your 28-70 and picking up either the Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5 or the soon-to-be released DA 17-70/4. By consolidating 2 lenses into 1, not only will you be getting a better lens, you'll also free up some extra space in your camera bag for the 50-135.

HTH,
Heather
