I'm leading my Pentax lenses to "slaughter".

I'm selling a couple of my glasses to make way for a new one. A lot of (local) offers I've been receiving are from Canon users.

Suddenly, I'm feeling guilty knowing that these glasses will likely be "butchered".

Oh well, I guess Pentax users don't want to buy glasses , and so I must depend on Canon users to recycle these beautiful primes.

The only positive comment I could think off is that with ever increasing number of these poor, butchered lenses, the value and the rarity of those that survive the current 'dark age' will undoubtedly rise.

Well, such is life. You can tell the Canonistas to do aperture surgery without cutting anything off, that way the lens can still be put back together and sold as fully functional.
Oh, and I think it depends on lenses as well. Something like 50mm f2? We can miss a couple. But if you are selling special or rare lenses, I understand your dilemma

Don't worry guys, these are not rare glasses, but I still feel sad for them: M 50/1.4 , M50/4 "Macro", and M28/3.5.

canon makes good glass (FL 19mm f/3.5R FL 58mm f1.2, FL Pancake 38mm f/2.8, FL-F 300mm f2.8S.S.C.), just not in a compatible registration distance for the eos system (44mm)

problem with canon is they asked to much for their slr's instead of trying to compete on price and they made the same mistake with their lenses.

Perhaps there's a silver lining here. Though not impossible it's probably not worth the effort to remove the PENTAX name, so we get free advertising.

If their body is a Canon APC-C, they won't need to modify them at all. They fit and work fine with adapters. They only have a worry if using full frame.
If Canon Full Frame, they have to do only one of 3 things:
- Activate live view before mounting the lens and use in live view mode only. Deactivate before removing
- Use an adapter with special geometry that is not readily available on the market. I'm working on getting some of these manufactured soon.
- Chop off its poor lever.

We occasionally see Canon converts on the forums. Perhaps there should some sort of penance for their
wayward past?

"Welcome to Pentax! In the past, have your ever modified a Pentax lens in such a way to render it unusable
on a Pentax camera? If yes, you must seek out a similar lens and restore it to full glory, then offer it up to
a needy Pentaxian who will venerate and cherish the lens in its native environment. Now repeat three times;
'I will seek to preserve Pentax glass, not destroy. I will seek to preserve Pentax glass, not destroy. I will seek
to preserve Pentax glass, not destroy.'."

I shot canon originally. These lenses don't get "slaughtered". They use a simple $10 ebay adaptor that connects one mount to the other. Pentax glass mounts to canon EOS without any major changes

*APS-C. For FF see posts above. Fortunately, the great majority of canon users are APS-C, so not chopping needed.

I think with many older lenses the lever can be removed if you unscrew the mount. That way you don't ruin the lens forever, as it can be put back together. This should also keep its value better
