Help me decide...

I am on the fence about a new purchase...LBA is begging me to buy something, and damn Pentax has to release a bunch of new glass to help cloud the mind....

Right now I am trying to decide between adding the 55-300, or waiting for the 60-250, or possibly going for the 18-250 again.

Here's my reasoning for each:
-55-300....the rave reviews kinda sell this lens really easily. the images are great. And I yearn for some more reach beyond 200mm, which is my longest lens currently.

-60-250....its a nice star lens, but without knowing when it ships or how good it willl be....plus being 50 shorter, overlaping my other star lens (and slower)....i find it easier to talk myself out of this one. price and size are not in its favor

-the 18-250, i am really only including for 2 reasons--it reduces the size of the kit, and its just a bit more expensive than the 55-300. yes, i'd sacrifice 50mm, but I'd have to ask myself how much I'd miss what I don't already have....

the almost all-in-one would be ideal for my family vacation. with all the gear the kids are going to need, daddy can't bring his usual photography gear.

expanding on that....anyone who has the 50-135 AND the 55-300....how would you feel if, for a week, you had to use just the 55-300....would you be OK with that? I mean, I know the quality of the star lens first hand...but for anyone who has shot both....are you happy enough with the output from the 55-300 that you wouldn't be kicking yourself for leaving the bulkier lens home? Just thinking I could have a kit of :
16-45, 55-300, and probably one of my wide angles...if not both, since they aren't massive. the 40 and 50 could sneak their way in, as small as they are....

just trying to get some ideas.....

Just to answer you latter question. I really only use my 50-135 for indoor sporting events and fall night time football games under the lights. The rest of the time I use my "cheap" lenses. I HATE the fact that I had to pay so much for the 50-135 for such a limited use. If all I did was landscape and mostly still photography, I would have never bought it. Other than being a 2.8, I find nothing great about it....nothing.

Go for a 28-300. Cost effective.
