DA 40 Limited has arrived!

.

.... And it's everything I'd hoped it would be - sharp, nice color/contrast, and
fast-focusing.

I really like to use my DA 35ltd macro as a walkabout 'normal', but in some situations
it doesn't focus quite fast enough (nothing wrong with the lens, it's a design
limitation most macro lenses share - which is why a focus range limiter would have
been nice.)

The DA 40ltd is a pancake, and it snaps to focus faster than any non-SDM lens I
own. It makes my K20D feel like a Sony A700 (only with good IQ )

Anyone else have & use a DA 40? I'm lovin' it...

These cats took off the second I stopped. fast focus caught 'em before
they started to move!

Wide Open

I like the seeded grass in focus along with the central onion flowers

Nice pictures as usual.

I had one for a few days...

I really liked the quick focus, solid build, diminutive size, but I found the fast 50 outperformed it in every way. Since I'm an old manual focus guy the quick AF capability was not a big deal. Just shot a wedding this past weekend and had NOT ONE auto focus lens in the building. Those stayed in the car.

That said, if I get another deal like last time, I'll own a 40mm Limited again. It is just too unique to pass up.

I have the da40mm and the fa77mm ltd's.

I'll leave the house with both and I have to say, a lot of my favorite shots come from the 40.

Wow, thanks for your pictures... this lens is in my list but can not decide since I own a FA35 and I think it is too close (focal range).

But somehow I cant stop thinking about buying it and this images wont help me too much

It is a great lens and it doesnt cost that much!! Great lens... I think I wont resist too many days, boys are sinners...

These are really good... Love the shots of your son... I think that is what I really got mine for, the quick snaps of the kids. But you show how good it is on everything else. The Fight Prejudice shot is excellent on all levels.

I got one a month ago but I have not spent enough time with it. It is the fastest AF lens I have. Plus I like the quick shift....
Your shots really make me want to slap it back on the camera and go play. Although it is 11pm... maybe tomorrow.

Here was my first kid snap with mine. Inside with some window light on her little face...

Ps.... I do think I like it better than my FA 50 as a go to kid lens. I kinda trust it more.

Wow! Great shots Jay. I love the second last shot of your son. The lens shows his beautiful mischevious blue eyes so well. Love your purple flowers, and the sharpness and clarity in the bike shot. Heck, i really like them all.
Gus, i love your photo too. Lovely skin tones, and the eyes are so clear.

It looks like i'll have to add another lens too my want list now.

Great pics, especially those of your son! You've posted him before, and sometimes he doesn't have the "baby face" look (if that makes sense), and other times he does. Gotta love the blue eyes! His eyes appear to me to be a little more bluer than Igilligan's daughter. She is lovely, and her eyes appear to be a little more blue-grey. I have an 18-month grandson, and I will definitely consider this lens for taking pics of him.

I just got my copy of the little cutey and I love it too. Much more useful than my FA77. 40mm gives a very interesting perpective.

Great images...Congrats! I love the 40 Ltd. Some people looking at it think it is just the body cap. Have used it on several shoots.

Most of the "Spring" Magazine shoot was with it.

Thanks for the comments, all. I love taking shots of the little guy, and in fact, he's
probably the main excuse I use for maintaining my current level of LBA!

When my wife sees the results, it makes lens acquisitions go down a little easier
the next time. (That and the fact that I have fire sales every month or so to help
fund the next round. )

Gus, nice shot, I can tell it's wide open. This 40 is great wide open, isn't it?

Like the edge-to-edge sharpness, and It's interesting how the bokeh is so
'traditional' compared to the fast 50's and other M lenses I've been shooting so
much lately. I'd say that the DA 40 limited is an almost technically perfect lens,
and it's a good compliment to the technically-imperfect-but-otherwise-magical
FA 77ltd, and the M 50's and 85.

Plus it's just so unique looking, well built and relatively cheap. Great lens to
start a limited collection with, Anne!

(anyone else have any images? Gotta do the images. Fearview, I know you can
put some nice images in here!)

EDIT: Ben, just saw your post. I haven't seen most of those shots before,
incredible. Looks like the 16-50 & 31 limited used there also?
