It hunts a bit. I use my 55-300 for bird shots and part of the hunting is due to me trying to hit the bird with the focus point. It's a long lens extended...birds for the most part not cooperative..they jump and flitter around...but invariably...at least most of the time...I get sharp pix.
With birds you have to be fast...I find the 55-300 is fast...works well on my K10D.
I've got a few shots of another bird in the wild...the Barred Owl...which during the day usually just sits there....it.'s heaven ...big bird...poses for it's portrait.
