My Pentax 1.4X lens has been amazing in IQ and AF for the year I owned it. A few weeks ago, it started acting up, would not confirm focus in AF-S mode. I sent it to Sun Camera for repair. Today I received a new converter from Ricoh in the Philippines. Quick AF tests show it is front-focussing. When I have a lens that misses focus, I send it in with a body and have it calibrated, but this is getting too much. I had to send my K-3 in twice for mirror flop, my DA*300 in twice for AF failure, and now trouble with the TC. I'm very frustrated.
My DA*300 squeaks noticeably when it focusses. Is this an indication that it will fail again? If so, maybe I'll send the whole kit and caboodle back for service and calibration. If I do, it better be the last time.
