I have just received a Rokinon 8mm fisheye lens and have been trying to learn as much about it as I can. It's my first manual lens and I am not sure why, when I turn on the K3 it asks me what focal length I want. It's an 8mm fish eye so wouldn't 8mm be what I should use? It goes all the way to 1000mm. It came too late today to go out and test it much, other than to make sure the camera could see it so I have not been able to do any testing yet. Is there a point to choosing another focal size? Not sure why the question comes up whenever I turn on the camera. any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

There is no data pin on manual focus lenses. You need to enter the focal length for shake reduction.

what happens if you put the wrong focal length in...

Your choice also appears in the file EXIF - so if you ever analyze what focal lengths you shoot often, it's good to set this close.

Yes, there are 1000mm lenses out there.
