I have a pentax 28-135 f4 A lens. I know they are hard to find and want to know the value of it.

(Pentax)Dude! How many wierd lenses do you have!?

They show up on eBay fairly regularly, so they're not that difficult to find. As far as I know, they don't have a great reputation (check out the lens review section of this site).

I've been mildly interested in checking it out, but I won't insult either of us by telling you how much I would want to pay for it

Just put it on eBay with no reserve and see how high it goes. The way old Pentax lenses are selling lately, it will porbably sell for 200% of what it's worth.

Thanks for the reply.I have looked on ebay and havent seen one come up yet, I guess Ill keep looking. Speaking of other weird lenses, I do have a few more.One of my favourites I own is a Tamron 400 f4 SP lens.Apparently this lens had a short lifespan of 2 years due to high price and more people changing to auto focus.To my understanding this lens is also hard to find.

Well, there's a German dude (store) asking $390 for one at the moment. I doubt he'll sell it, though.

I sold mine in pretty pristine condition and with a metal lens hood, both caps for 140 Euros on ebay. Sometimes these lenses go for more, but I think it is a fair price. The optics are not bad and the mechanics are quite excellent.. But I never came to grips with the focus, for whatever reason. So I hadn't it used in years and it just collected dust in the cupboard. So 140 Euros seemed much better, than another dust-gatherer…

An A28-135 f/4 sold for around $180 Australian dollars on Ebay recently.

I bought one about 1 month ago. Paid $50 USD and it came with a pentax Z-20 body. The lens is actually pretty good. I was quite happy with the results considering the cheap price !

This is an historic thread. But yes, this lens is better than many current cheap zooms.
