is the Sigma EX 70-200/2.8 FF? or digial lens? All those EX DX and stuff are all confusing to me :P
The 70-200/2.8 is a "full frame" lens, which is fully usable on a digital. Even those with the DG designation (extra coating to cut down on reflected light off of a CCD or CMOS sensor on the digital cameras) are "full frame".

EX denotes Sigma's "professional" line. DX is a Nikon thing. Not sure what it represents. But, you are right...it is confusing.

Depending on what you are trying to capture, I would think one would need more of a wide-angle lens in the Forum.

the 50-135 is currently my number 1 lens.
Its so sharp..so fast and as so few out of focus pictures. The quality of this lens is simply amazing. I have a frien who as a Canon with a 70-210 2.8 lens and i make better pictures than him without passing trough Photoshop.
On my part, this lens was the best purchase that i made.

I just bought the 50-135 and I really love it. If I need more range I can use my 135-400 which is a real brick to carry but a great lens. As for the 50-135 the weather sealing is a real plus for when I go to beach or off into the woods around here to shoot.

Once I updated the firmware in my K10 the speed of the lens really became apparent and the silence is deafening. I can't think of any reason NOT to buy this lens.

You are killing us all who have LBA lust over this lens and that includes me. I usually refrain myself from opening any threads related to limited lens. I want to jump in from the other side of the fence to give the obvious reason on cost. But having great pictures such as yours are priceless in the argument on LBA terms. Your pictures make my argument a mood point with annoyance.

I for one resist the DA * 50-135 for the cost reason that I can't justify for novice and amateur use in the hobby. If I manage to make money out of my hobby, that will be a different story.

I now go with "Poor man's choice for DA * 50-135" to satisfy that focal range for a small fraction of the cost with slower speed. I paid $125 for that old Pentax K 45-125mm f/4.0 lens.

Thank you for your very kind comments on my photos, Hinman. Much appreciated.

Having looked at the results from your "poor man's DA*50-135 f2.8, ie the 45-125 f4" all I can say is that you're getting fantastic results from it. One thing the DA*50-135 f2.8 hasn't got and that is that beautiful all metal lens build and manual focus feel.

Off topic, Lance B do you think when your time comes to an end that you could remember me in your last will and leave me that wonderful lens collection you have there!?! I'm in lost in awe of it!
I think you will have to stand in line as there a number of others that have laid claim to it.

Anyway, have fun with your new lens and post some samples.

I think it's a good choice. I'm looking at it too right now and I'd rather get the new 70-200mm f2.8 macro from sigma, but they haven't made it yet so I'm really thinking about the 50-135
I am also waiting on this lens which is due out in August for Pentax mount. Also ordered the 1.4 TC and 2x TC for this lens. Should be very versatile and it will be my first Sigma. Having the Tamron 28-75 and Pentex 12-24 along with the 90 Tarmon Macro, should give me all the range I need. Fro the walk around, still very happy with the 18-250 as long as it is bright out. Cheers JIMBO

I'm waiting for the Tamron 70-200, it's 20% lighter than the Sigma and might be more manageable.
