APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO HSM

Anybody know when this lens will hit the street.

What do you think about this lens along with the matched 1.4 teleconverter and the 18-50 EX Macro (new version) I already own as a basic setup.

I need low light indoor photography for swim meets along with 300mm for outdoor lacross games.

??????

This Sigma has been touched upon quite often recently here. Nobody knows when it will appear for sure.

I have the non-HSM/DG/Macro version and use it often with the APO 1.4x TC, resulting in about a 100-280/f4. I'm unsure how low your light is, but using it here in winter at 5pm, when it's quite dim, is not too bad. So far this year with the K20D I haven't had to resort to manual focus, with my istDs last year I did have to. My guess is you won't have a problem. See here for examples

Is this version of the lens the same expect for HSM?
If so is it still available and is it less expensive?

Are all the photos on the site you gave for examples from this lens?

Thanks,

Direct quote from Sigma Customer Service Dept.

"The lens has not yet been released and is expected out the end of June.
We apologize for the delay."

Assuming both the new lens and TC are the same quality as the origonal APO 70-200 F2.8 EX, and the 1.4x (or 2x TC) I would have to say it is is a good combo.

My origonals are.
