DA*50-135, is this a good copy?(samples)

Hello,

I want to buy a DA*50-135mm, found a very good price and the seller has provided me with some RAW files, can you take a look at them and comment on the quality of this copy? I don't have so much experience with those things since I don't have so many lenses to compare. I made this post in another thread also, sorry for that, I needed some faster answers to make my decision.

I have exported the files as JPG straight from his camera (K3) without any adjustments (no sharpness, no noise reduction).

Hard to tell from these. The first 3 of the elderly woman look out of focus to me. Could be front-focusing and just needs micro-adjustment in the camera. The shots of the child look better, but some seem to be focused on the end of the nose rather than the eyes. Could just be the focus point selelcted, or again fine adjustment required (BTW, a little front-focus is no big deal as you can make and save the adjustment in camera).

No flat field shots to confirm that there are no decentering issues (first 3 are close, but again, out of focus so it's hard to tell). Might ask for a shot of a brick wall at f2.8. I did notice some minor purple fringing in one shot, but that's not uncommon for this lens (not an indicator of a problem I don't think) and looks easy to fix in PP.

I looked at the sample pictures you provided, and I'd say those are in line with what you can expect from this lens. However, you'd need some shots at 135mm f/2.8 to see how it performs and if it's a good copy imo. The lens should be sharp at f/2.8 throughout the range, especially so at 135mm. If it's not the case, I wouldn't buy it.
Both shots of the kid at f/3.5 seem to be front focused, but the part that is in focus is nice and sharp. The same picture at 2.8 would be useful.
Based on what we have, I'd still be confortable to buy it, but it's not my decision!

He probably found the worst possible wall to do this kind of shots:

135mm f2.8: http://www.unionevents.ro/hatti/50-135_samples/13.jpg
122mm f2.8: http://www.unionevents.ro/hatti/50-135_samples/14.jpg

Can you tell anything from those samples?

Considering there is no added sharpening I'd say the lens is well within acceptable limits.

I had one myself, sold it, in good light with a K3 it quite sharp.

Here a crop:

The full picture, you can click to get it full size:

I find the picture at 135mm with the old woman to lack a bit of sharpness for f/4.5 but yes this lenses is not as good at 135 as it as 50 or 80mm.

To me it would depend also what price is asked for it.
